Like most teenagers, Baby Bug spends many hours on You Tube and Instagram, and one particular night she was telling me about how Kylie Jenner was going to have 7 pop up stores across cities in the U.S. this Christmas season. She has some of her make up from last year and really likes it, and it is usually only sold on line. Needing another Christmas present idea, I thought – hmmm, this might just work…
I got so excited when I looked up the locations and saw that one of the chosen locations was Atlanta, Georgia. No other particular reason for wanting to visit Georgia at this time except for the fact that I had just noticed $28 flights from Detroit to Atlanta! After checking dates and times, I was even more thrilled to learn that the timing worked to allow it to be a day trip (no extra hotel cost and time is tight with upcoming exams).
The two weeks leading up to our adventure flew by (thank goodness because I almost spilled the secret several times). I ended up telling her the night before we left due to the early hour that we needed to be at the airport, (Kylie Jenner lipstick is one of the few reasons that Baby Bug would get up early on a Saturday). She was over the moon and like I guessed… there was no problems getting her out of bed.
Because of it being a one day trip we were travelling with no luggage or carry ons – only a personal item each, and wow was it nice. Walking right to security upon check in time, and going right to ground transportation once we landed was a very quick and easy process.
Before we knew it we were landing in Atlanta, and what an airport (more like a shopping mall)!!! Huge – but very easy to get around.
We followed the signs for MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) and for $3 each, we were on our way to the mall. We were very impressed with how clean and how easy it was to figure out . The Lenox stop was a 3 minute walk from the mall and approx. 35 minute ride from the airport.
Luckily we were able to find the most wanted item – “the marble lip kit set”
Yum, Chic Fil-A! It’s always a toss up when travelling in the U.S. as to which is our favourite fast food choice but it always seems to come down to In n Out Burger or Chic Fil-A. This was our first time trying a Peppermint Chocolate Chip Milkshake – only available during the holiday season, and OMG was it good!
Overall – a great success but from what little we saw of Atlanta, we hope to someday be back to spend more time.
