Hi, We’re Karrie (aka “Mama Bug”) and Peri (aka “Baby Bug”). We are Canadians that live in Southwestern Ontario – right across the Detroit River/U.S.A. border.
I have always loved to travel. I love the excitement of discovering new places, meeting new people, trying different food and checking out landmarks up close and personal that you have read about or have seen on television.
In 2002, I began the process of an international adoption. Hard to explain but for many years leading up to that time I always had the feeling that I would adopt. My options were a bit limited due to the fact that I was single (tired of waiting for “Mr.Right”), and also because of owning my own business and being self employed. In November of 2001 my paperwork was submitted to China and in March of 2003 I travelled to China to pick up the love of my life – a beautiful, feisty 8 month old baby girl. Though I found the trip to be challenging, I was fascinated with everything about the country – the people, the food, the culture, the history. That was the trip that really opened my eyes to not only being a mom but showed me that there is a whole wide world out there waiting to be explored!
The more that I travelled, the more I felt an inner peace, a sense of knowing that this is what my life was supposed to be. In July of 2014, after many years of fighting my head, I finally went with my heart. I sold my shares of a successful business, sold my house and got rid of A LOT of “stuff.” I went back to college for Tourism & Travel and graduated this past spring.
Peri (aka “Baby Bug”), from her first flight of more than 13 hours at only 8 months old till one of our most recent flights to Dubai – this kid was born to travel. She is the best travelling companion you could ask for.
Peri is currently in high school, has a black belt in karate and has a passion for fashion.
Besides travel, we love music – especially Aerosmith, movies – especially chick flicks and shopping! Over the years I have made it a point to combine as many of my passions together as possible, (like flying to Hawaii to see Aerosmith in concert.) This makes for some awesome memories!
